Resistance may mean running away…

Any temptation can be resisted.  God will help you resist temptation by helping you to (a) recognize those people and situations that give you trouble, (b) run from anything you know is wrong, (c) choose to do only what is right, (d) pray for God’s help, and (e) seek friends who love God and can offer help when you are tempted. 1 Corinthian 10:13

Running from a tempting situation is your first step on the way to victor.  2 Timothy 2:22

Ask…and God will do it. John 14:14

When Jesus says we can ask for anything and He will do it…we must remember that our asking must be in His name—that is, according to God’s character and Will. God will not grant requests contrary to His nature or His Will, and we cannot use His name as a magic formula to fulfill our selfish desires.

You must know the character of God in order to make right requests of God.  Some of the characteristics of God are love, power, gentleness, strength, patience, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness.  We have to trust God and know that He is always in control. That means He’s Sovereign.  If you’ve grown to know God’s character in areas of your life, John 14:14 awaits you…Ask God’s will to be done.

Want to know “great and mighty things?”

God wants to answer our prayers, but we must first ask for His help. By asking God for help, we are acknowledging that we cannot do it on our own and that God can.

In Psalm 145:18, we are told that God is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. Also, Isaiah 58:9 says. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: “Here am I.” Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Jeremiah 33:3 says, Call to me, and I will answer you and tell you great and mighty things that you do not know.

Our human mind cannot lead us to the spiritual insights that God can show us; Spiritual insights that come from our daily walk with God in prayer. Turn to the Lord now, and He will provide all you need and share with you “great and mighty things!”
