Get to know Him…

At different times in our lives, we will be drawn to different characteristics of God—His love, power, gentleness, strength, patience, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness.

John 3:16 tells us that God loved the world so much that He gave His Son, Jesus.  That whoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life.

Hebrews 13:8 states that Jesus is faithful, the same; yesterday, today and forever.

1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love.

2 Peter 3:9 says that The Lord is patient with us wishing that we would repent rather than perish.

Psalm 30:5 tells us that God’s anger is for a moment, that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.

James 1:17 reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from God.

Isaiah 40:28 tells us that God does not grow faint or weary. And He knows everything. God is powerful.

Psalm 103:1-22 tells us to focus on the good things that God is doing. Of course we could complain about life, but there is plenty to praise God for. He forgives our sins, heals our diseases, redeems us from death, crowns us with love and compassion, satisfies our desires, and gives righteousness and justice. No matter how difficult our current situation, we have many blessings we can count.

Isaiah 41:10 God doesn’t want us to be afraid because He is with us. God has established a relationship with us; He is our God. And God assures us that He will strengthen, help, and give us victory over sin and death.

Philippians 4:7 tells us that God’s peace is very different from what we know as peace. It’s more than positive thinking, a good feeling or the absence of conflict. God’s peace comes when we know that He is Sovereign—in control. God can guard us against anxiety and depression.

Romans 2:4 tells us that in His kindness, God holds back his judgment, giving people time to turn from their sin in repentance.

Emotions…

The same circumstances in our lives that produce fear may also produce joy and passion. Fear tends to distort our understanding…blows things way out of proportion!

By asking God to lead and guide us out of fear…He gives us a new perspective. He puts us on a mission for Him. How can God be glorified in my response to my circumstances? What can I learn from my circumstances that may be helpful to others going through something similar? Thinking this way transforms us from the fearful emotional state to confidence and faith in God. Therefore, when we seek God in our circumstances, He does something supernatural–He steps in the midst of our troubles and gives us peace, joy, and amazement!

Lord Your peace helps direct my life and transforms my fear to a passion for seeking after You! Continue to stir up Your passion in us Lord!

Father!

What would you have me do today?  I thank you in all Your majesty! Your splendor! Power! Glory! Strength! Praise!  I exalt you today Lord.  You are worthy!  You are my Shepherd!

I will seek you first in the morning!  I am not my own, but I belong to You!  Use me for Your service.  Let your love operate fully in my heart.  I am in need of You daily.

I must surrender myself to You constantly as I am but of a sinful nature without You.  Don’t let my mind be my own or my ways be mine.  Rather, I give my will to you and I will do your will.

Wash me that you may find me presentable for use.  Purify me that I will not make you ashamed.  Here am I…send me.

I know You are with me.  Through distress, pain, disappointment, death, uncertainty, sickness, You are there Lord.  Let not my enemies even believe that they have defeated me.  Protect me with your mighty hand from those that seek to destroy me.  As I realize the strength and power that You give me, I will run to You for refuge.  I jump into your lap to rest from battle.  You renew me daily.

I feel Your power in me.  That keeps and protects me from evil.  Your power has healed the innermost pain and hurt of my heart.  You have wiped the tears of my soul away and given me peace beyond my understanding.

How could I have hurt so much and have been so troubled?  Now, I cannot find the pain.  Miraculously, You have hidden me in your safe place.  You heard me when I poured out my heart to You.  You exchanged my hurt, pain, distress, and doubt for something so sure, peaceful, joyful and powerful.  My face can smile again.  I am healed!; my soul can rejoice again as I am free.

The tears that roll down my face now are tears of joy!  You not only delivered me from my enemies, but you resurrected me.  You lifted me from death to my pain, hurt, distress.  You have given me new life.  I live again because of You!  Amen

Weeping, I write…but Joy comes!

Oh God, draw near to us as we draw near to you.  We give our sorrow, hurt, and sadness to you.  In exchange, PLEASE give us joy, healing, and peace.  PLEASE!  We will not crumble because of the acts of evil, but rather we will pray that You will deliver us from evil. We know you hate evil, so please have compassion to forgive us when we sin—reunite us back to you again.  We will pay for our wrongdoing, and we pray that your grace and mercy will settle the account with those who have wronged us.  Wash us, so that we are clean again.  Let your mercy be new each day.

I know your grace and mercy are with us.  In our weakness, make your strength perfect O Lord!  For I am weak, but You have all power and strength.  Arise, our King!  Arouse your Holy Spirit within us!  I can feel your strength rising in me.  I can feel my tears drying upon my face.  Now, I can feel the heaviness being made light!  I can feel your presence O Lord!  Please be near us today dear God!  Have us to know that you are here!  Have mercy on us Lord.  May You be glorified!  Oh my God, you never leave us, do you?  You never will!  I love you Dear God!  Thanks for not forgetting about us, no matter where we may be this morning.
